Birdia Keglar, lynched Jan. 12, 1966, when coming home from meeting with Sen. Robert Kennedy in Jackson. She was the first black to vote in Tallahatchie County after Reconstruction ended. She started the county's first NAACP. Birdia's son, James, tried to get the FBI and Justice Department to find out what happened to his mother. Within three months, he was dead, too. Posted by Hello
